'Root' is not supported from Outlook 2013 onwards for GMail. Anyway, my findings indicate that IMAP GMail account does not work for Sent Mail folder from Outlook 2013 onwards and it is normal that there will only be local sync not server sync for Sent Mail folder. I then entered the reg hack for Outlook to NOT update shared mailboxes in cached mode and only list those shared mailboxes in 'Online' mode. This leaves the primary mailbox in 'Cached' mode and continues to update. Thanks Techlogicnet - Quote 'Check the Application Logs on your Exchange server. Look for Event ID 9646.

Repair a profile in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013, or Outlook 2016

  1. In Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013, or Outlook 2016, choose File.

  2. Choose Account Settings > Account Settings.

  3. On the Email tab, choose your account (profile), and then choose Repair.

    Note: The Repair option isn't available if you're using Outlook 2016 to connect to an Exchange account.

  4. Follow the prompts in the wizard, and when you’re done, restart Outlook.

  • Run Windows Update to make sure you have the latest updates for Outlook and other desktop apps for Office 365.

There might be an issue with the browser that you're using to sync your Gmail account. We suggest that you try to reconfigure your account by removing then re-adding your account. You may follow the steps below:

To remove an email address from the send/receive option, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your Outlook.com account.
  2. Click the Gear icon beside your name located at the upper right corner your Outlook.com interface.
  3. Click More mail settings.
  4. Under Managing account, click Your email accounts.
  5. Under 'Accounts you've added', click Details on the right side of the email address.
  6. A confirmation message will appear and click Remove.

  1. Under Your email accounts page, click Add a send-and-receive account.
  2. Enter your Gmail email address.
  3. Click Next.
  4. You will have an option on where you will save downloaded emails.
  5. Click Save.
